Built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD), London, Ontario, Canada, the class 071’s arrived in Ireland in 1976. Built to haul express passenger service, over the years their duties have dwindled and now used exclusively for freight. With a number of 201's stored its surprising they're still running in this era of standardisation. Here 083 sits in Waterford Sallypark Yard on 3rd October 2012, probably as a spare for the timber service that operate from here.
